In the previous Black Diamond episode, Connor Herson, a 22 year old American professional climber, took on Crown Royale, widely considered one of the hardest trad climbs in the world. Rising through the steep walls of Jøssingfjord, Norway, the 100 metre crack line looked utterly relentless, demanding sustained power, precision and composure from start to finish.
Yet despite the route’s intensity, Connor’s climbing appeared calm, controlled and deeply methodical, turning what seems impossible into something almost calculated. With the successful third ascent of Crown Royale, he further cemented the climb’s reputation as one of the most impressive and demanding trad test pieces of recent years.
In Episode 2, Connor returns to Profile Wall in Norway, this time turning his attention to the epic overhanging finger crack, The Recovery Drink 5.14c.
The episode follows him through the full projection process as he fine tunes beta, battles shredded skin, unpredictable weather and the mental games that come with pushing at the limit. It’s inspiring, raw and deeply relatable for anyone who has worked through the highs and lows of projecting a climb.
With more episodes still to come, this is shaping up to be a seriously exciting series to follow.
