Vertical Life Issue #48 is here with more exciting and action packed features, photo galleries and gear reviews. We get to know Jason Whiter, a vision impaired para climber. We check out a newly developed crag just 20 mins outside of Hobart Tasmania. Nathan O’Neil shows us how he got his epic shot of Ben Cossey at a local crag.

Grappling with fear is a familiar concept for climbers. Mount Beauty based highliner Elise explores her relationship with fear, and how she learnt to move with it, not fight against it.

We share a photo feature of Aussie climber Ben Cossey’s first ascent of the hardest route at Arapiles/ Dyurite. Light Weight Baby, grade 34, was bolted in the early 1990s and the 10-metre line waited, unclimbed, for more than three decades.

There are plenty of other great stories too. We catch up with Aussie mountaineer Allie Pepper who is attempting to climb the world’s 14 highest peaks without supplemental oxygen. Dr Kate Beacher talks about mindset reset when coping with injury. Our Tale of Whoa column shares tales from Arapiles and Balls Pyramid. We test the Arc’teryx Nuclei SV Parka and touch on some new great gear, from crag packs, crash pads to harnesses.

There’s loads more great stuff too. We are giving away a Mountain Designs Lightweight Chair to the first 75 subscribers of Vertical Life. The issue will be on sale in newsagents in Oz on Sep 2.
